METANOIA
A transformative change of heart, especially a spiritual conversion
She was on a journey to change herself. To be who she was meant to be. Her three brothers had scoffed. What was wrong with who she was? A powerful being who made humanity quake. She shook her head and said they’d never get it. Then she said goodbye and began her search.
She had been to Paris and London. Dubai. Cairo. New York. Toronto. Vast cities that promised answers. Surely, she’d find what she sought. All had disappointed. The people in the cities were only interested in frivolous things like money and power. She had no need for either.
Abandoning the molding pastry and sludge that had once been coffee, she left her table. Around her, people slumped in their chairs. Their faces were gaunt as if they hadn’t eaten in months. Two skeletal women grappled over a scrap of bread while the others watched hungrily. She stepped around the fight and emerged onto the street.
A similar sight greeted her. She shook her head and made her way down the street. Yes, the big cities didn’t have her answer. She would go rural, visit the small towns and their people. Hopefully, Famine would finally find her true self.
