Review for The Dragon's Enforcer

Blurb: A Triad heiress who wants nothing to do with her father's legacy.

A rival gang enforcer who abhors violence.

Together, they must figure out who they are

before each of their roles swallows them whole.

Charlotte Leung’s father, nicknamed Dragon Brother within the Hong Kong Triad, sent her overseas long ago to escape an underground life. But when he passes away, she returns to Hong Kong only to find that she is now the grand prize of a succession war. So before blood and violence can decide her future, she runs away, straight into the enemy faction’s territory.

Samuel Chan had made three major mistakes in his life. The first was running away from home to join the Ming Hain Tong Triad faction. The second was agreeing to let Big Brother train him to become an enforcer. The third was taking in the mysterious girl who stumbled into Big Brother’s training hall where he teaches. He should ditch her but something about his latest student brings out all his protective instincts. Now a world of trouble is heading for them both, and he must decide if he should be listening to his brain or his heart.

Because training the heir to the Dragon’s throne is only the beginning.

My review: Charlotte Leung has returned home for her father's funeral and is not even allowed the time to grieve. As the Dragon Brother, the leader of the Hong Kong Triad, her father had a lot of power, and a new, blood-thirsty man wants to take that spot. To cement his seat, he is determined to marry Charlotte and sire an heir. Yet she runs away and finds herself on the mainland in another triad's territory. She finds sanctuary in Samuel Chan's kwoon, and he offers her kindness and safety. What she did not expect was that she would fall for an enforcer in enemy territory.

An excellently written romance thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat and had me melting with the growing relationship between Charlotte and Sam. The details of life in China and the Triad were marvelous. I was fully immersed in the world which was familiar in a sense it was like the mafia, but it was still so new with the traditions and factions of different triads. Charlotte is strong and admirable, and I in no way envied the position she found herself in when she arrived in Hong Kong. My heart was racing as she tried to escape and found herself in Sam's martial arts training hall. The tension between them was sizzling! Spectacular action and emotionally gripping, I loved this novella.
