Blurb: Rule number one, whenever we want each other, we can come to each other. Day or night.
Paisley never imagined she’d hear those words coming from the demon lord, but nothing has gone according to plan. Following the murder of her parents, Paisley becomes queen for the vampyre and faye factions. The day she’s crowned, a threat pits her up against Lord Case, an infuriating demon who claims he wants her the first time they meet. And damn if she doesn’t desire him, too. Except, he’s the vampyre faction’s greatest enemy.
The moment Paisley barges into Case’s home with her accusations, she fascinates him, especially how she’s as turned on by him as he is of her, but there’s a little problem. She keeps trying to kill him despite his insistence that he had nothing to do with her parents’ deaths. When Case vows to protect her, it’s only a matter of time before they enjoy each other. And they do. Every chance they get. But someone is trying to assassinate Paisley, and Case isn’t ready to give her up. After all, there’s a fine line between enemies and lovers.
Review: Paisley has always felt like she never belonged. Not to her father's vampyre faction or her mother's faye people as she is a hybrid of both. Yet when someone murders her parents, Paisley must take the thrones of both, and someone doesn't want a hybrid holding any power. She thinks at first it could be the demon lord, Case, as the demons and vampyres have long been enemies. Yet he's immediately fascinated by her, and she can't resist him either. Case makes a vow to protect her in front of all the other leaders, and he takes it most seriously. Even when she tries to kill him. The two of them can't seem to resist each other, but can they work together to stop another assassination and discover who is behind it all?
This is the first book in the highly spicy fantasy romance series, Enemies with Benefits. And yes, it is exactly as advertised. There are no closed doors, no holding back, and lots of kinky action. Case is a sex demon (not an incubus!) and so he usually has one thing on his mind. There is a solid plot, but the main show is the wild play between Case and Paisley.
The world contains not only humans, but fantasy and supernatural beings as well, and each faction of creatures has their own ruler. Some are natural enemies and others have a long history of hate. Demons and vampyres are those. Both Case and Paisley are loyal and love their people, and that sizzles beneath the surface even as they battle their fiery attraction for one another. There's action and twists to the plot. I did guess who was behind it all, but I was there for the steam. So. Much. Steam!
